Trump names Karoline Leavitt, 27, as White House press secretary

“She is smart, tough and has proven to be a very effective communicator,” the president-elect said.

US President-elect Donald Trump announced on Friday that his campaign spokeswoman, Karoline Leavitt , 27 , will serve as his White House press secretary .

Leavitt ” is smart, tough and has proven to be a highly effective communicator . I have the utmost confidence that she will excel at the lectern and help deliver our message to the American people ,” Trump said in a statement.

Leavitt will be one of the youngest people to hold the key position, which is the face and voice of the White House and faces questions from the media.

She served as Trump’s press secretary during his campaign, and gave birth to her first child in July, she said on a Fox News podcast.

In 2022, she ran unsuccessfully for the House of Representatives from New Hampshire after serving as Trump’s deputy press secretary during his first term.

She also directed communications for Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, whom Trump appointed as ambassador to the UN.
